Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been sharing all the ways that our core needs can drive our eating behaviors 🤯
The necessity to fulfill our core needs drives every decision that we make, and sometimes food can be used as a vehicle to fulfill them.
The 6th and final core need is 💥 Significance 💥
This is a need to feel important, noticed, or unique.
Someone who’s main core need is significance wants to stand-out and feel validated for who they are or what they've done.
Food can be used to provide that feeling.
It can show up in different ways depending on how you relate to others around you:
👉 Being known as the person who can drink anyone under the table
👉 Everyone in your family knows you as the “bottom-less pit”
👉 You’re the girl that always has a sweet tooth
👉 Maybe you’re the one known for doing all of the cooking at home
👉 Or the one that brings the dessert to the party
Does any of this resonate with you?
Deep down, does being known for something make you feel a little lighter... a little brighter?
If the answer is yes, you just made a big discovery about yourself!
Now the trick is to be aware of that pattern about yourself…
…and find something else (a new “thing”) that makes you feel significant that won't continue to interfere with your health & fitness goals
Using different "types" of food to fulfill that core need
Questioning your perception of your role within your inner circle.
“Dieting” is very rarely about the food ‼️
Usually, there’s something much deeper going on that needs to be addressed first.
Once there’s awareness, you can begin to work WITH your core needs, not against them.
You can only fight who you are for so long before the yo-yo shoots back up again.
